About Me

For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by gadgets. My all-time favorite Christmas gift was a Science Fair 100-in-1 Kit because, with each project I tried, I learned more about how electronic components work together to make something useful.

The knowledge I gained building "space-age" electronics in the 1970s set my path as a lifelong student, teacher, enterprise IT architect, software developer, and data geek. When I log out, I love motorcycle riding, camping, traveling, and racing.

My career spans four decades in many roles, including developer, lead developer, application architect, infrastructure architect, data architect, and educator. In the early days, my favorite programming language was Pascal. I wrote my first Java program in 1997 and spent the next fifteen years using it to develop websites, web services, and other software for a Fortune 100 company. These days, my language of choice is Go, but I do most of my programming in Python and Spark building big data pipelines for analytics and machine learning.

Some of My Favorite Things

My day job keeps me busy, so I don't have much time to blog, but I wanted to share some of my favorite things. Please note these are not paid endorsements. I just want to share the love.
